Ruth Roman is the youngest daughter born to Lithuanian and Jewish parents Mary Pauline Gold (Gold) & Abraham Roman in Lynn, Massachusetts. At the age of five, her carnival barker father passed away which left Ruth's mother with no choice but to work as a cleaning lady and waitress in order to feed the family. Ruth lived in a slum Boston tenement neighborhood, Massachusetts. She was a student in the area. However, she left school after just two years of school to explore a career in acting. It was not without challenges. After obtaining a position as a model in New York as a model for a detective magazine she was unable to find jobs in the stage. As a hat check woman in a nightclub she resigned and went back to Boston. The city of Boston was in which she was employed during the late night, she was an actor for New England Repertory Company and for the remainder of her time she was an usherette. She completed her studies at Bishop-Lee Theatre School, where she studied drama.
